Humane Society of Livingston County Pet Of The Week

Here at Brighton Ford we are proud to sponsor a cage at the Humane Society of Livingston County!  By sponsoring a cage at The Humane Society of Livingston County's shelter, we are able to help ensure a safe, temporary home for a deserving pet until they find their forever, permanent home.  We will highlight a pet from the The Humane Society of Livingston County every week here and on our Facebook page in hopes of helping the dog or cat find their forever home!

GIBBS

Gibbs here! I am a super handsome orange and white domestic shorthair guy! I like to be pet and sometimes take a little while to warm up to new friends. I was recently promoted to office cat and I'm loving the attention, but would love to be in a home with people to call my own!

CHILI PEPPER

Hi there my name is Chili Pepper and I'm pretty spicy! I take my time to get to know new people and will slowly warm up. Once I am comfy I would love to cuddle up and watch a good movie. I am always up for some good play time and am very active! I would love a home with lots of toys and people to entertain me. I'm a beautiful female 2 year old domestic short hair with a black and white coat.

BELLA & STELLA - Bonded Pair

Hello we are Bella and Stella, two absolutely beautiful biological Torti girls! Bella is the daughter to Stella and we are hoping to go home as a bonded pair! LINNAE & SHAY - Bonded Pair

We both absolutely love being around people and will accept all the love you have to give! We are here due to an owner surrender at no fault to ourselves. However, we are the absolutely thrilled to find our new forever home!

LENNY

Hey everyone, I'm Lenny! I am a two year old red and white mixed breed cutie! They say I'm young and on my way up! Not meaning to brag but I am quite the handsome fellow! My red and white coat shows hints of possible pointer or hound mix. I'm very playful and fun and would make a great addition to just about any friendly family! I'm smart but no one thus far has taken me to class and I think it would be awesome if they did! Everyone loves a well behaved dog and dogs are only as smart as their owners are trained right? If you're asking, I would be more than happy to accompany you to class. Let's learn together! In the meantime, feel free to come meet me anytime! Everyone here keeps telling me that my stay won't be long because I'm a wonderful boy, so if you're curious I wouldn't delay! See you soon...

JASMINE

You better come quickly because I'm all that and a bag of chips and I'm not going to last here very long. I'm a two year old tan and white adorable mixed girl. These wonderful people here at HSLC saved me from an at risk shelter in Virginia and I have a whole new lease on life now. If I may take a moment to brag I am a very sweet medium sized dog that can translate into just about any household. I love people of all ages and sizes and I will make a great family companion. I am not super fond of cats and that's that. I seem very eager to meet the dogs that are also in this facility so perhaps if you have another dog in your family we might just hit it off! But the cool thing is that this facility does a safe meet and greet so you will know in advance before I ever come home with you! Hoping to meet you soon! Love, Jasmine

IAN

Hi, my name is Ian! I'm a handsome FRONT DECLAWED domestic short hair orange tabby. I was abandoned in a carrier at the front door of this place and at first I was very scared...what was going to happen to me? Luckily, the people here are really nice! They've promised me a brighter future and they've been taking great care of me. They think I am around 6 years old! I am super sweet and playful once I come out of my shell. I am looking for a safe home indoors where I am able to love again!

SILAS

Hi there everyone my name is Silas! I'm named after a really cool kid that came to the shelter last week and adopted one of my friends named Robin.
One rainy night in the middle of April some people took me on a ride and dropped me off in the rain in the parking lot of this wonderful Shelter.  That was a very scary thing, and I wish they would have done it differently but I am grateful that one woman who works at this shelter came back that evening to check on things and found me alone and quivering. I was waiting right where the people dropped me off wondering if they were coming back.  Click here to continue reading Silas story

ELVIS & CHANEL

Under no fault of their own, Elvis and Chanel lost their loving home due to developed allergies by a family member.  Although they are not biological siblings, they are brother and sister and have lived in the same home for many of their years. We would love for them to continue to live together in their new forever home. If you have room for two, you couldn't ask for a sweeter pair.
Elvis - 7 year old DSH - neuter male
Elvis is your typical orange boy.  He is 7 years old. He's a big guy, who has tons of personality, confident, a real "gentle giant".  He enjoys playing and people watching but he really shines when he can sit on your lap and watch your favorite TV show or movie with you. He is a charmer and hard to resist. If you need a big cuddle bug then Elvis is for you.
Chanel - 8 year old DSH - spayed female
What can you say about a petite gentle black and white girl, other than she is just adorable.  Chanel is 8 years old, but just like every woman, hides her age beautifully.  She doesn't really like us to tell her she is considered a senior. She keeps her coat beautiful, shiny and soft.  She is a bit shyer than her brother Elvis, but don't let that fool you.  She is a sweet little gem who is loving and becomes a little purr box when you pet just the right spots. Snuggles & cuddles are her specialty.

GARRETT

Garrett is a very SWEET and easygoing 3-year-old neutered male with a rad looking gray color! Humane Society of Livingston County doesn't know too much about me because I was a shelter transfer. They have spent time with me and have learned that I'm a nice, adventurous and lovely boy who deserves the best. I enjoy your company, being pet and being brushed as well. If you look close enough, you can see that I have some peek-a-boo tiger stripes in my coat, how cool is that? I've been around other cats and seem to do well as long as they don't annoy me!! I love to watch out the windows and lay in the sun. I can't wait for my furrever home.

PIPER

I'm a beautiful 1-year-old grey and tan brindle Pit Bull mix! I'm spayed, micro-chipped, and up to date on vaccines! I was transferred here from Virginia to find my new family! I'm very friendly and sweet and I love to play! I'm working on my leash walking! I can jump fences so my new family will need a very secure enclosed yard! No cats for me please but I could possibly live in a home with another dog but that would be on a case by case basis! I'm looking for my new family to love…do you think it could be yours?

BATMAN & CINDER
*Update 4/25/2018 - Batman has been adopted and found his forever home!*

Hi there! Our names are Batman and Cinder. We are two very handsome medium haired bonded brothers. We are a pair of commendable (neutered) males who truly enjoy your presence. Our past family says we have been around all ages, meaning adults, seniors and children and seem to do fine! We are friendly, tolerant and when in the mood - playful! We are considered seniors as we are both 8 years old. Did we mention that we are BIOLOGICAL brothers? We prefer to be the only cats and would do best without other animals. We are both very loving and sweet boys. Batman is an 8 year old male who is black and white and Cinder is an 8 year old male who is grey and white. Call the Humane Society of Livingston County to schedule a visit with Batman & Cinder today: 517-552-8050

SKYLAR
*Update 4/25/2018 - Skylar has been adopted and found her forever home!*

Hi Everyone, I'm Skylar! I'm a 2 year old brown and white mixed breed! I'm spayed, micro-chipped, and up to date on vaccines! I was found wandering the streets of Detroit when some nice people picked me up and took me to DACC and they transferred me here! I would benefit if my new family took me to basic obedience classes so I can learn to be the best companion ever! I love to play outside in the yard with the staff here and play with toys! I will require a fenced in backyard in my new home since I was found as a stray. I may be able to live with another dog in the home, it would be on a case by case basis! I would do best with a family with older children because I am very jumpy right now but I'm working on that!  Come visit me at the Humane Society of Livingston County today!

BOOTS & MORRIS (Bonded Brothers)
*Update 4/25/2018 - Boots & Morris have been adopted and found their forever home!*

We are Boots and Morris, a bonded pair of sweet, 8 year old brothers who are affectionately known as "Boo and Mo" by our foster family. We were born 9/15/2009 and lived together in a very loving home since we were kittens until sadly, our owner developed health issues and could no longer care for us. Losing the only home we ever knew and coming to the shelter was very traumatizing for us, so thankfully, we are now staying in a GREAT foster home where we are relaxed, happy, and ready to find our new FOREVER home!  Click here to learn more about the loveable Boots and Morris

COLONEL
*Update 4/25/2018 - Colonel has been adopted and found his forever home!*

Colonel, the Brighton Ford Pet Of The Week back in December, came to the Humane Society of Livingston County grossly obese and is on an extreme makeover diet!  He is still looking for his forever home!  He was the Companion Animal for an elderly man who passed away and Colonel's desperately looking for someone to connect with and serve in that way once again.  He is a black and white Cattle dog mix that is 7 years old. He needs someone who would commit to a disciplined exercise program with great nutrition.  He's anxious at the shelter because it's overwhelming for him there, so make your home Colonel's forever home.  He would probably be best as an only child where someone could focus their attention solely on him.  Colonel loves going for long walks and spending time outside, he would be a great family dog with someone who is able to give him a safe wonderful haven for the rest of his life.  Call the Humane Society of Livingston County to schedule some time with Colonel at 517-552-8050.

SCOUT
Hello there! I'm Scout, a very sweet, 4 year old black and white, long hair, (neutered), male. I do have a few rules on how I like to be handled and prefer to be petted when I ask, but once we get to know each other, you'll find how great I am! I am front declawed and most definitely the king of all felines, therefore I would be happiest as an only pet so I can focus on ruling my kingdom. The staff here at the Humane Society of Livingston County say I can be a darling if you have patience to start out slow and form a lifelong friendship with me!
Scout can be seen posing for pictures in local neighborhoods, as he wants to appeal to all that are looking to adopt a loving cat!  Call the Humane Society of Livingston County to schedule a time to meet Scout to find out if he's the perfect pet for your family: (517) 552-8050

ATHENA

The Brighton Ford Pet Of The Week is Athena, a gorgeous, sweet, 7 year old female Dilute Calico just waiting to be adopted!  Her foster mother shared a day in the life Athena, which is pretty awesome:
7:00 am   Athena gets her morning insulin shot. She walks right up to me to cuddle and say hi, takes her shot without a flinch, and continues to eat breakfast.
9:00 am   Athena rubs her head against my mother's hand while she sleeps for some morning lovins then may nap on the window sill after watching the birds

WHITNEY
*Update 1/10/2018 - Whitney has been adopted and found her forever home!*

I am Whitney, a VERY SWEET, beautiful, all white, short hair, 7 year old (spayed) female with soft green eyes. I was surrendered when someone in my family developed severe allergies. They said I am a VERY SWEET, easy going girl who got along with kids, dogs, and other cats in my home - even when the cats were not very nice to me. I may be a little shy in new places, but warm up quickly and LOVE to be petted around my head and ears! I prefer not to be handled too much, but will sit on your lap once I feel safe and comfortable. I would make a great companion and loving friend for someone special.  Click here to visit the Humane Society of Livingston County's website

RUFUS
*Update 2/12/2018 - Rufus has been adopted and found his forever home!*

My name is Rufus. I am a big, handsome two year old, black short hair (neutered) male with golden eyes. I was abandoned outdoors with my siblings and, thankfully, taken in by a nice family who cared for us, but had several other cats, so thought it best for us to find a new home of our own. I am a VERY SHY, but SWEET boy when it comes to meeting new people. My former owner says I am well behaved, always used my litter box, and LOVED their other cats - wanting to be friends even if they hissed at me. I also LOVE to watch birds out the window and am very playful once I feel safe. I would be SO HAPPY to find a quiet, loving, indoor home with another cat companion or two - my sisters Simba and Carly already found a home, so maybe you could adopt me with another nice cat?  Be sure to follow Brighton Ford on Facebook for adoption updates here.

KATNESS EVERDEEN
*Update 2/12/2018 - Katness has been adopted and found her forever home!*

SUPER SWEET, gentle, little girl who is less than a year old!
My name is Katness Everdeen. I am an adorable, super-sweet, gentle, short hair black and white (spayed) female with beautiful green eyes who is less than 1 year old. I was abandoned without any information and so thankful to be at the Humane Society receiving the care I need to find a home. I was very shy when I first came here and a bit overwhelmed when around other animals, but now I am much more confident and playful! Just sprinkle a little catnip on my toys and I become a happy little jumping bean! I have always been a very sweet, loving girl and still love to snuggle! I would be so happy to find a relaxed home where I can grow up as part of a loving family!

ABIGAIL
*Update 1/10/2018 - Abigail has been adopted and found her forever home!*

My name is Abigail, or you can call me Gabby. I am a very friendly, confident brown female tabby who enjoys meeting new people.  I am such a playful girl, you would never guess I am now considered a senior cat (born in 2007). You may be surprised and amused to see how my short little legs can jump off the ground -- keeping active has helped me keep my nice shape. I have never met a toy I didn't like, but my favorite is the laser light. Once I get some exercise, I will love to cuddle on your lap and be brushed or just relax with you. I am well behaved and know how to use a good scratching post too.  I am great with people, but would do best in a home without other cats. I would be SO HAPPY to find a good home with someone to make me feel special again!  Click here to view all adoptable cats at the Humane Society of Livingston County

I am a very gentle, well-behaved, curious young girl who will love to sit on your lap and will probably be quite playful once I am feeling safe in my new home. You really should spend some time with me to appreciate what a special girl I am!

I'm looking for a new family to call my own with my best pal Quincy! We were found as strays together and were transferred here. ZOKU
*Update 10/27/2017 - Zoku has been adopted and found her forever home!*

My name is Zoku! I am an ADORABLE, SUPER PLAYFUL, one year old, short hair, grey (spayed) female tabby who happens to have only 3 legs. I survived a very frightening attack by a dog which resulted in losing my right front leg, but I am fully recovered and doing GREAT NOW! I am SO GRATEFUL to be enjoying time in a loving foster home until I can find my new permanent home! My foster Mom says I am AMAZING! I am well behaved, love to run and play, and snuggle up with you! I even get along well with other nice cats and a relaxed, quiet dog in my foster home. I would be SO HAPPY to find a loving family to grow up with me!
Here is what my Foster Mom says about me…
Zoku is AMAZING! She gets around just fine on her 3 legs and can run up and down our stairs faster than ever. She is VERY FRIENDLY and LOVES attention. At first I did not think she liked other cats, but now that she has settled in, she roams the house freely with our other cats and gets along very well. She has become best buddies with our feral cat, Poppy. She even gets along very well with our relaxed dog, Jason. Zoku should be fine in a new home with another cat or quiet dog as long as she has time to adjust to them. Zoku LOVES to play and has her own special scratching pad that she loves. She eats well and never has gone outside the litter box. She is a SNUGGLER and sleeps on my bed at night along with my dog and other cats. She loves to sit in the windows and look outside. She is ADORABLE and would make an amazing pet for a loving family! Zoku is currently enjoying time in a loving foster home waiting to find her permanent home and family! Make an appointment to meet this special girl by calling the Humane Society of Livingston County at 517-552-8050.

I love to be brushed, have very good scratching post and litter box habits, and may even come running to greet you when you call me! LAFAYETTE
*Update 4/25/2018 - Lafayette has been adopted and found his forever home!*

I'm a 5-year-old red Coonhound Mix! I am neutered, micro chipped, and up to date on all of my vaccines. I am searching for a hiking or running partner because that's what I love to do! I'm very active and very playful! I would thrive in an obedience class to learn how to be the best companion I can be!  Lafayette would prefer to be an only child and longs for a person to call his own.  Here, in the stress of the shelter, we're not sure if he's dog compatible and he seems not to be too interested in cats. Lafayette is an athlete and this big boy needs some land to lay out in the sun.  Do I sound like the perfect match?!  Come visit me at the Humane Society of Livingston County today!

I was found as a stray and SO THANKFUL to be safe here now ready to find a new loving home! I am a little nervous from all the new sights and sounds at the shelter, but once I feel comfortable in a new place, I will show you what an affectionate, playful girl I can be! I am a curious girl who LOVES attention, enjoys being brushed, and responds well to brief petting and a little playtime to know each other before handling me too much. I would be SO HAPPY to be a special companion to someone who will keep me safe indoors and love me furr-ever!  Click here to view all adoptable cats at the Humane Society of Livingston County

I am Ginger Cookie, a SUPER SWEET, gentle, short hair, (spayed) female orange tiger with beautiful blue/green eyes born in 2009. I am a little shy and frightened here at the shelter right now, but LOVE TO CUDDLE! With a little patience, you will discover a VERY LOVING girl ready to sweeten your life!

BARKLEY
*Update 9/25/2017 - Barkley has been adopted and found his forever home!*

Barkley is a magnificent animal . He is a year old Great Dane, black lab, Shar-Pei mix. He is a puppy like in his energy, a wonderful athlete, super fun with people and very excited around other dogs. He is smart and would be a wonderful candidate to take to an obedience class to learn a common language with his new owners. Barkley could benefit from having a large fenced-in backyard to stay safe yet get adequate exercise.  If you're a runner then he's a great canine companion choice!  Adopt Barkley today at the Humane Society of Livingston County!

DJ
*Update 12/11/2017 - DJ has been adopted and found his forever home!*

Unless you were blinded from the eclipse earlier this week, it's real easy to see that DJ is cute cat in need of his forever home!  Meet the less than a year old boy that wants to earn a spot in your heart.  He's playful, curious, happy and sure loves attention.  DJ may jump on your lap for a few chin scratches, but then he prefers to play!  DJ was found with an abcess near his tail that required surgery and time to heal in a foster home before he could be adopted. He's doing GREAT now and anxious to find his new home and family!  He really has a lot of energy and seem to be okay around other cats, so may enjoy having another young feline playmate in his new home.

ANYA & EASTWOOD
*Update 9/25/2017 - Eastwood has been adopted and found his forever home!*

There's no rhyme or reason to the length of stay for any dog or cat in the shelter. We guess it takes as long as it takes for their appropriate, forever fabulous family to come forward. So we're calling all fabulous families to come forward at this time for these two amazing dogs ~ Eastwood and Anya!~  They are both wonderful,  loving,  playful dogs that have been patiently waiting for their special someone to arrive.  If you're looking for a lifelong companion and someone true blue and loyal beyond words, please come visit either one of these two beautiful dogs as soon as you can!  Anya wants to snuggle and Eastwood wants to play!  Come help them find what they deserve!
Anya is beautiful, loving, strong physically and mentally. She LOVES the water.

KYRA
*Update 4/25/2018 - Kyra has been adopted and found her forever home!*

Kyra is a beautiful, sweet, short hair, (spayed) female, chocolate point Siamese mix with orange markings who is only about 2 years old. Kyra was found in rough condition suffering from puncture wounds and Entropion, a very painful eye condition. She is so grateful to be at the Humane Society of Livingston County where she received the love and medical care needed, including eye surgery and some time in a foster home to recover. Kyra is doing so much better now and getting around just great! She is starting to show everyone what a very friendly girl she can be who is quite talkative and would love to sit on your lap! Her vision may be a bit compromised, so she thinks she would prefer a quiet, relaxed home without too much activity or noise that may startle her, but should be ok with nice cats or kids who can respect that.  We do not know how long Kyra suffered from her eye condition or whether her vision will be fully restored, but we do know that she is a very sweet, young girl who is ready to begin her new life in a loving home where she will feel safe and cherished!

DASHER
*Update 4/25/2018 - Dasher has been adopted and found his forever home!*

Dasher is a super cute 2-year-old tan Whippet/Chihuahua mix that loves driving Ford Mustangs! He's neutered, micro-chipped and up to date on vaccines. Dasher would be a rock star at fly ball or some type of agility, his last home had children that he was great with. So far the staff here think that he is potty-trained but he may need a refresher once he finds his new home. Dasher loves being with people and spending quality time with them. He really loves going out in the big yard at the @Humane Society to play, but would much rather be in your back yard with you.  Click here to see all pets in need of a home at the Humane Society of Livingston County

MOLLY
*Update 7/26/2017 - Molly has been adopted and found her forever home!*
Molly is an absolutely beautiful girl inside and out. Only a DNA test would tell us her true breed mixture but we believe she is a  lab/boxer mix.  She is about a year and a half old, puppy like in her energy, ripe and ready to learn. Molly walks well on a leash, loves other dogs and is a snuggle bunny with  her people.   She was raised in a family with children and she misses them every day. CLEOCATRA
*Update 4/25/2018 - Cleocatra has been adopted and found her forever home!*

My name is Cleocatra. I am a super cute, petite short hair (spayed) female brown tabby born around 2014, so I am only 3 years old. I was found as a stray and, thankfully, taken in by a caring family until I could come here to find a new home. I am a very friendly, playful girl who will love to cuddle once I feel safe and relaxed in my home. I am easy to please, but do not like to be around other cats, so please keep that in mind here at the shelter and for the type of home that will be best for me. I am really adorable and make cute chirping sounds when I am happy!  Please help me go from homeless to happiness!  Click here to view all adoptable pets at the Humane Society of Livingston County

ANYA
*Update 4/25/2018 - Anya has been adopted and found her forever home!*

Hi Everyone, I'm Anya! I'm a beautiful 2-year-old Pit Bull mix! I'm spayed, micro chipped, and up to date on vaccines. I love playing outside and hanging out with people. I'm super affectionate, gentle, and I love giving kisses! I would prefer to not live with cats, they're too much for me. She would probably prefer to be an only-dog but may consider sharing a household if she meets and accepts another dog.  I know sit and I'm pretty polite on a leash.  Give the Humane Society of Livingston County a call for details on adopting Anya: 517-552-8050

My name is Phoebe. I am a VERY LOVING, playful, 3 year old short hair (spayed) female with GORGEOUS brown/grey Mackerel tabby markings and deep green eyes. I endured a very confusing time in my young life moving around from place to place until I was surrendered when my owner could no longer care for me. I am a very sweet girl, but was not happy at the shelter being around other cats, so thankfully, I am staying in a WONDERFUL foster home until I can be adopted. I would be SO HAPPY to find a loving, forever home and family to call my own! It may take a little extra effort for you to schedule an appointment to meet me in my foster home, but I promise I am worth it!
